Donation Pineapple Quilts 1 & 2

I bought this ruler and wanted to give it a try so I decided to make a couple of pineapple lap quilts for a local nursing home. The one quilt turned into two.  Does that ever happen to you. My scrap fabric multiplies when I turn my back.

Just for the record, and I have no vested interest in saying this. I love Creative Grids rulers.

I used leftover fabrics from days (decades?) gone by to make these. This first one is more planned than the second one, mainly because I had enough of the fabrics to be specific in my choices.

Here is a close-up of the quilting, using a curved ruler:

Here is the second quilt, a little more scrappy:

Here is a close-up of the quilting, just freehand loops and paisleys:

Here are the two side by side:

I love how different fabrics and quilting, even small changes can make a pattern so very different.  I think they finished in the 40 x 40 range. They have already been donated so it’s too late to measure now. 🙂

Which one do you like better? Why?

I recently bought that ruler … looking forward to making a scrappy quilt… have only made one block so far.

How do you like the ruler? I have to think twice each time I cut until I get into a rhythm. I want to make more though.

Now you have me thinking about this ruler. Sigh. And making lots of pineapple quilts.

🙂 Go for it. I was pleased with the results even if I didn’t care for the fabric I used.
