Happy Birthday Noah

Noah, loves all things animals and loves the Bible story about Noah almost as much. When I found this fabric I knew I needed to have it.

I started Noah’s quilt almost a year ago. My first attempt was to border the motifs with different colored solids pulled from the fabric. I put the seam ripper to use to consider another idea. That one I abandoned as well.

I settled for this, raw edge appliqué on a solid piece of fabric. 2-DSCN6974I used my long arm to secure the edges. It will have some fraying but this is for a 6-year old boy. I’m sure he’ll love it. 1-DSCN6968

I deliberately placed the motifs in all directions and quilting a wave type swirl going in all directions.

What is wrong with this picture?

2-DSCN6977I put the label in the wrong corner. Whoops. I didn’t notice until I was taking these pictures.

It is not large, but a perfect size (41 x 48) I think for the traveling and sports events he goes to with his family1-DSCN6974Happy Birthday Noah. It’s hard to believe that you are 6 today.

Love you, Grandma

I bet Noah will love that quilt! I like the green background very much. Happy birthday to Noah!

Thanks Sandi. I can’t say it’s my best quilt but I learned some things and he loves it and that is all that matters.

What a great way to use this fabric! I love raw edge appliqué, it has a nice soft look after a wash or two. I really like the green you chose too 🙂

Thank you Kim for stopping by.

The green was a bonus, it was fabric I had on hand. I’ve not done much with raw edge and certainly not in a quilt that will get a lot of use.

Isn’t it great to get a new look at this post/quilt created three years ago!!! THIS is why I love Tuesday Archives as we would have missed this one. Does Noah still use it?

It’s on his bed as far as I know along with a billion stuffed animals. He is living up to his name. 🙂
