Week in Review March 23, 2014

Can someone tell we where the weeks go?

Early in the week I worked to finish piecing this top. This is the second one I’m making for Christian in a different colors. Caiden’s is here.

2-DSCN6115I pieced this back for Christian’s quilt. He’ll be four and I thought this was the perfect fun back for his space quilt. 1-DSCN6134

Thursday, at the quilt guild I just started attending, fabric was handed out to those willing to make table covers for a local emergency fund/food pantry agency. Red and green for their Christmas event. I choose to take two kits. They are simple enough to make up, just taking a little time. 1-DSCN6112I’ve been puttering at cutting 1 1/2 inch squares for a swap I’m participating in. There are 8 of us so I cutting 8 sets of 100. I’m not sure how I’ll use them yet.

I have a goal to machine quilt every day for practice but only managed two days this week. My feathers are getting better. 5-DSCN6122 And so is my freehand orange peel and loops. 6-DSCN6126I plan to compare pictures of beginning results to the last. I can tell the practice has made a difference.

Goals for the next week:

  • Finish up the table covers
  • Finish quilting Scrapitude
  • Finish the binding on the commissioned t-shirt quilt
  • Put Christian’s quilt on the long arm
  • Restart Noah’s quilt

They might be a little lofty, but I tend to aim high.

What’s under your needle for this next week?

And to me, I didn’t feel as though I managed to get a lot done. I tend to have higher expectations that what is realistic however.

You’re getting a lot done! I love these space quilts. I made a Star Trek quilt for my son once, and bought a juvenile space print for the back, but he was too old for that by the time I got around to quilting it, and I had to buy different backing! You won’t have that problem!

Valerie, I have had those quilts that never made it to the recipient because by the time I finished the event was over the child too grown up. I finally decided I needed a deadline to get my grandkids quilts done this year.
