I won this fat quarter bundle, Teddy Bear Basics by Windham Fabrics over two years ago and I thought it would be perfect for a quilt for my granddaughter’s 2nd birthday as her room is decorated in browns and pink.
She will be 4 this December.:) I guess I am a little late.
I had several stops and starts as I played with ideas using 2 1/2 inch squares and 6 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch rectangles.
On point ideas:
The on point squares reminded me of raindrops so I choose to cut my 6.5 x 2.5 rectangle down to 3.5 x 2.5 to make them more similar in size.
Please note that my seam rippers got plenty of use as I sewed many of these ideas together and then decided it wasn’t quite right.
I used a Robert Kaufman Kona cream as the background.
I found this backing fabric on clearance, it couldn’t be more perfect:
Finished size: 38 x 50.
Big enough to cover her for many more years, but not too big to carry around.
I am calling it “Tears and Tantrums.” Fitting for a strong-willed 3 year-old little girl who sheds heart melting tear drops along with the determined tears of a tantrum.
Love you Grace. This will wait until December when you turn 4. Grandma
Enjoy the Journey, Jackie
