World Traveler Baby Quilt

New baby, New mom, specific color and theme. I asked.

With a picture of a paint swatch, and a theme of different countries around the world, I found this:

Thea's Quilt

I was afraid I’d never find fabric to go with the specific blue that was requested. The parents-to-be have served in various parts of the world as missionaries and their families are also from other countries. They wanted the baby’s room to reflect those things. I found the fabric during a trip to Missouri Star Quilt Company last fall. I felt like I hit the jackpot.

Here is a picture of it before it was quilted.

With the quilting.

I used the center world fabric for the back I quilted around the major world areas and stitched in the ditch the borders. I used the same fabric for the binding to provide a frame around quilt that will create a separation of wall and border color. The quilt finished is 32″ x 38″ and makes a perfect wall hanging.

Happy with fabric finds, on the journey. Jackie

Those fabrics work beautifully. It will work for many years in the child’s room.

Thanks Diane. I was over the moon thrilled when I found the fabric. I suspect it will hang in the baby’s/toddlers/preschooler/school room for a long time as well.

Love this. The colors are fabulous and it’s such a great idea.

Thanks Sandi, the fabrics inspired the pattern. Since I had no idea what I would find, I kept my ideas at bay. 🙂

That quilt is amazing and perfect for this new baby! Sometimes I have problems matching blue colors. Blues can be so many different colors. This is a quilt to love and cherish.

Thank you Daphne for stopping by. It was a simple sew, but you are right finding the right blue, that was another story. I was thrilled.
