I love the idea behind this quilt. Several women wanted to celebrate the work of a leader in their church. He has taken groups of young people on a mission trip for the past 18 years and this year he is stepping down from that role. They found the shirts in his office and they are hoping he doesn’t notice they are missing. Verses from 2 shirt backs were used to make a total of 20 shirts.
I planned to do a square meander and I thought this was the perfect backing fabric for a mans quilt. It’s actually darker than in the picture.
Here is a front view of the quilting.
The quilt is 68 x 84 inches. I used Superior So Fine 509 thread (medium gray) to quilt it. I wanted the thread to blend in on the back and also didn’t want it to stand out too much on the front with all the white shirt backgrounds.
