Christmas Boxes

I played with many layout options on this quilt that can be seen over here. I ended up with this option, different from the rest, but similar to my Box of Chocolates.Christmas BoxesI used Moda’s Joy Batiks Jelly Roll by Laundry Basket Quilts.Jelly Roll UnwrappedI sewed two strips together, pairing a red with each set.

Here is a close-up of the front. I did straight-line quilting about 3/8 inch away from the seam. A lot of stops and starts but good practice with a ruler on my long arm. Christmas Boxes Close-upHere is a close-up on the back, attempting to show the quilting on the back. Christmas Boxes Back close-up

The quilt finished is 39 1/2 x 55 1/2. I used Aurifil to piece it and Robison-Anton Candy Apple Red (5807) to quilt it.

Another easy finish, on the Journey, Jackie

I always wondered how to use that Creative Grids ruler. Great job!

Thanks Jaye, it was fun and easy but this particular jelly roll didn’t have the same interest in fabrics as the one I used in my Box of Chocolates quilt. I’d like to do another one, but this time I know to look for a jelly roll with more variety.
