What Color Would You Choose?

This fabric was my gift during a one yard gift swap. I thought it would be a good test of the Stack and Whack method by Beverly Reynolds. DSCN9327I purchased this fabric to make a quilt using the method.Stack and Whack Fabric

I like the vibrancy and variation of the second fabric, but the method is new to me.

One yard was not enough (it is based on repeats) to make anything other than a runner so I pieced 3 hexagons.

Here are some of the layout options I played with:
Stack and Whack Option CollageNow for the help part. I want to use fabric I already own, so here are 3 background choices. The first 2 are colors found in the blocks. The red is the triadic of the blue and green.

I can see where each background color has merit and it is interesting to see how the colors in the blocks standout or recede based on the background.

What background color would you choose and why?

I think the blue really accents the movement of the blocks…

I would choose the dark red to make it a little warmer. I love your blocks btw, I have fabrics set aside for especially this method. Haven’t got to it yet.

The dark red is beautiful as a background. The other two choices are overwhelming, distracting from your beautiful block designs.

I really like the dark red. It makes the whole project pop!
