Scrapitude Finish

This quilt back in September when Sandy from Quilting for the Rest of Us shared Charlotte’s Mystery Quilt from her guild.

This was truly a scrappy quilt and I used whatever I had on hand. Some fabrics I wondered if I should include, such as the oranges and pinks, but some of the other colors stand out as well so I think the over all look is okay. 1-DSCN6883 I thought the center star was a great place to learn to do feathers and I certainly got a lot of practice. 2-DSCN6886 3-DSCN6902Loops for the sashing pieces.
5-DSCN6912On my front porch. Looks inviting doesn’t it?

4-DSCN6923This was pieced mostly as a leader/ender so it is a “bonus” quilt.

Finished it is 77 x 79. It should be square, but I cut my backing short by mistake so I had to trim it off a bit. No one will know, so don’t tell. 🙂 Every once in a while a quilt needs a little unexpected design element.

I love this quilt and I will make it again. Thanks Sandy and Charlotte for sharing.

Pleased on the Journey, Jackie

  • This is beautiful!

  • SandyH

Lovely! And love the quilting! Don’t forget to add it to the Flickr Scrapitude group–that’s where Charlotte’s seeing all the finishes. 🙂

A very lovely quilt. Shows one can hardly go wrong with a fabric choice in a scrappy, as long as there are one or two more that have the same “undesirable” characteristic, which, in repetition becomes an important element.

    • Jackie

Thank you Brenda and thanks for stopping by.

I like the scrappiness of this quilt. And yet the design shows up nicely.

    • Jackie

Juile, that you for stopping by my blog and commenting. It’s amazing to me how such an odd mix of pattern and color can work. 🙂

      Christine,
Scrap quilts have so much character. I certainly had my doubts at times with this one though. Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks Megan, figured the only way I’d find out was to give it a try.

A fun mystery quilt and it looks great in scraps.

    • Jackie

Thanks Cathy for stopping by. I’ve considered making the quilt again, but there are always so many ideas in my head that I tend to move on to the next.

I made Scrapitude too, and it is my favorite mystery quilt ever! Are you doing Scrap In a Box?

    • Jackie

I am dong Scrap in a Box, I actually cut 2 sets. May regret it. Need to get busy with step one.

Very bright and fun! Those pops of color really do add some sizzle to the top. Love your fix for the short back.
