Camden wanted to make a card for his other grandfather but insisted that he sew it. I assured him we could and would, though he had a hard time picturing how he could sew a card.
He choose blue and red fabrics and I thought he was old enough (9) to learn to use the rotary cutter and ruler. He was very careful and did an amazing job with accuracy. I had him sew all the strips together, then use batting as the backing as he sewed decorative stitches along the seam lines.
At one point he got “stuck” and the machine wouldn’t move. I had to explain what a bird’s nest was. The next time he got stuck he showed me his handy work and asked if it was a bird’s nest and it most certainly was.Cutting the heart from the center of the card.
And very pleased. He wrote a nice note to his grandfather and it went in the mail the next day.
What a special thought and gift you made to be cherished Camden.
Proud of you.
