Quilting Week in Review 1.19.14

This week flew by in a haze of busyness.

I do have a finish to cross off my list. Veteran Stars

This birthday quilt is now ready for the backing, which needs to be pieced.

3-DSCN5525Almost done with this quilt, just a bit of binding to go, a mishap prevented it from becoming another finish for this week, but more on that later.

Loaded a donated quilt top on my long arm. It is a large quilt and fortunately I was given a large amount of yellow calico fabric that goes well with this top. 2-DSCN5532I have to admit that I got caught up with the #MLKSI (Martin Luther King Sew-In) on Twitter tomorrow and pieced a couple of the Disappearing Pinwheel blocks. Note, both were pieced incorrectly (at least I am consistent with my mistakes). See the video here for the correct information.

I decided to try using a charm square as well as a layer cake square. The layer cake size is much easier to work with. Again, remember my blocks are not correct. 1-DSCN5529

I have to work tomorrow so I will not be able to participate during the day, but I want to make a lap size veteran quilt using the technique. I’ll see what tomorrow night brings.

Check out AJ over at The Quilting Pot and Sandy over at Quilting for the Rest of Us for details on the sew-in.

Another busy week mostly away from my studio, but bit by bit….

How has your week gone?

Enjoy the Journey, Jackie
