Veteran Stars

1-DSCN5369A 2014 WIP finish! Is it cheating that I only had the binding to finish?

I used red, blue and creams, many of them scraps:

I played with different layout options before settling on placing it on point.

I used rulers to quilt inside the stars and on the creams and a curved free motion outline for the outsides of the star pattern. You can tell my free motion needs a little work.

In the border I did a meandering star pattern. 4-DSCN5373

This quilt is made up of 6 inch saw-tooth star blocks, alternating with plain squares on point. It finishes at 38 x 38. It will be given to our local We Honor Veterans for veterans in hospice care. More information can be found on my We Honor Veterans page.

That is really lovely, Jackie! I particularly like the meandering star pattern in the border. That just makes those great star blocks sing. Well done!
