Christmas Ornaments

In previous years I have made Christmas ornaments for each of the grandchildren. This year I thought it would be fun for them to make their own. They will be a treasure on the family tree until they are grown and then a keepsake for their own tree when they are grown.

Grace and Noah started these while camping with us this past fall. I brought the fabric and markers as a project in case it was needed. It became the perfect diversion during a thunderstorm.

They spent the night with Grandma and Grandpa last night so we could finish them up and hide them on the tree as a surprise for their parents.

Grace helped me with the cutting and I helped her with the sewing.

Noah did his own cutting and while I helped him “steer” the fabric, he graduated from my lap to the chair.

I love the wonder of a child. They don’t see their mistakes as we see ours when we sew. They are just pleased with their results.

When was the last time you felt as joyous as a child with your accomplishment?

Great project and I love the way you pointed out their joy. Good reminder

When I was working with them, I was hoping they wouldn’t compare to each other or stress over the holes or wrong cuts or sewing off the fabric and they didn’t. They were just thrilled. That was their gift to me.
