Scrapitude Progress

For information on this scrap mystery quilt go over to Quilting for the Rest of Us and visit Sandy’s blog for details. My start of this can be found here.

This step was full of piecing.

 Lots of piecing.

And did I mention piecing?

DSCN4985_wmI have realized in doing this project that having prepared pieces are perfect for me when I have a need to sew and have no creative juice in my body at the time. I also realize I spend a lot of time playing with ideas that go no where. I wouldn’t say that is a bad thing, it just limits the number of things I get done.

Note to self, always have fabric cut and ready at a moments notice to piece.

So are you on the Scrapitude train? If not, why not consider it?

Enjoy the Journey, Jackie

  • Diane Rincon

Very pretty, Jackie! Yup, I’m on this train too. Though I started cutting and organizing my scraps just last year, I liked being able to pull some of them for this project. See you onboard!

  • Susan Owenby

Nope. I have a big old pile of scraps that I have no clue what do with. I kind of just dont want to deal with them you know? Maybe I’ll be inspired one day – but I suspect not! Good for you for making it happen with yours!

    • Jackie

Susan, I was that way for a long time, but I really like scrap quilts, I just needed to make one to get hooked.

Those 3 piece triangle look really fun 🙂 And perfectly pieced too!

  • Caroline Critchfield

This is going to be a beautiful quilt! I agree, having cut pieces ready makes relaxing (almost mindless) work. I enjoy it too. 🙂

    • Jackie

Caroline, it seems as though it takes longer to prepare than to sew, but I know that is not true. I always have to be thinking of the next project to prepare for.

It is sooooo good to be a ScrapAholic!…I’m one, too, and love working out of my ‘ScrapBox’…great feeling, that ‘something for not much’ satisfaction you get when using up scraps. Your precuts are going to work into a beautiful quilt. BTW, playing with ideas that seem to go nowhere are often lead in’s to somewhere unexpected. Thanks for Showing Off this Saturday.

      Sue,
Thank you for stopping by. I am a real control freak so playing with ideas and using scraps is outside my comfort zone, but I really do love the process.
