National Button Day

P1070723_wmToday is National Button Day. I would imagine that even though most quilters don’t use buttons on their quilts, that many of us own a fair amount of buttons.

So what is it about buttons?

Do they fall into the category of thread and ribbons and trims?

P1070728_wmDo you also have a stash of buttons?

Enjoy the Journey, Jackie

NO! I dont have nearly enough buttons. 🙁 I keep looking for buttons at a good price so I can stash them away, but I generally find them too expensive. I know it’s silly, but more than $1.oo/button and I’m out. 🙂

Susan, I am with you, I love purchasing buttons, but they must be on sale and really inexpensive.

When my grandmother passed a couple years ago at the age of 100 and a 1/2 we were told to go and pick something from her house – I got her button box and think of her every time I paw thru them. I think of the garments they came from and where they have been and seen and experienced. Oh, if those buttons could only talk! I can only stir them around and imagine of my gramma and remember her – her button box helps me do that and it is one of my most cherished possessions.
    Happy button day Jackie!

What a treasure! Sadly there is nothing like that in the family other than mine. Maybe someday down the road they will be treasured by a grandchild or great-grandchild.
