Wednesday WIP’s for October

Hand sewn hexagons for a doll quilt that I plan to applique on a white background. I thought I was almost done, but not quite.DSCN4659_wm

Scrapitude cut and now ready for the piecing steps.

Yellow brick road is ready for quilting, I am waiting on a couple of yellow threads before I get started. Many ideas are swirling in my head for possibilities.

A quilt for my grandson Noah for Christmas, I hope. I am not sure I like where it is headed so I may be going back to the drawing board.

The rest of this free motion practice piece needs to be completed.

My black/white/red leader/ender quilt that I finished piecing. I would have been done earlier except for the mistake I made over here. Now I need a back. I tend to forget that when I start a quilt. I have a lot of left over pieces from different design attempts that I may piece into a back.

DSCN4651_wmHere is what I have to use for the back. My biggest concern is having the quilt line up on both sides or make one side wonky on purpose. What would you do?

Finally (not really but it is enough for now) this top is ready for backing and quilting.

How often do you get to the basting/quilting part of a quilt and realize you didn’t consider the backing fabric?

Enjoy the Journey, Jackie

I love the variety of projects you’re working on, Jackie. It will be interesting to see how Noah’s quilt develops.

Thanks Diane. I am definitely going to scrap the first idea and start working on another thought.

Your hexie quilt is lovely! Soft and old fashioned looking (in a good way) as for the back, I usually go wonky since it usually means I don’t have to be so exact which is not my forte’ . Quite an impressive list of WIP’s 🙂

What is amazing/sad about the list I posted, is that it is very incomplete. There are many more and this past week, I have other ideas I plan to start with soon. I think if I was more focused I would get more done.

Yes, wonky done right looks planned and you can’t go wrong.
