Building Blocks Pattern

002 (2) (800x600)I have seen many quilts using precuts and I had a couple of charm square packs that I wanted to use up. The intent was to make it in such a way that the printed fabrics would seem to be independent of each other and random even though they were pieced into a block. I was thrilled with the results and I have had several people ask for the pattern.

This quilt is using a charm square set from Connecting Threads, quilting flowers seemed fitting with the sweet colors of the prints.

Stitching, Baby Blocks Girl 006 (800x600)

I used a pieced back that I really like.

The first one was so much fun, I made a second one, this time in blues for a boy, Mischief from Nancy Halvorsen.P1110898 (800x600)

This was helpful for double checking my measurements, fabric amounts etc.

I quilted circles of various sizes to continue with the theme in some of the prints.

This is a perfect pattern for a new quilter. There are no points to match, cutting is minimum and it only takes 1 charm pack (36 5 inch squares) and 1 1/2 yards of a coordinating solid to piece the top that finishes at 42 x 42.

The pattern can be found at my pattern shop over on Craftsy.

If you purchase the pattern and make the quilt, I would love to see pictures.

Both quilts are available for sale over on Etsy.

Enjoy the Journey, Jackie

Thanks Nancy. The pattern is super simple and goes together very quickly, plus it is very forgiving. Thanks for stopping by.
