Creative Prompt- Fresco and Grow

I started participating in Jaye’s Creative Prompt Project over at Artquiltmaker.

As I mentioned in my first attempts at this, I realized my “slow processing” extended to my creative inspirations. I also find that the harder I try the more I get stuck. Two weeks ago, Jaye posted on “Fresco” and my mind was blank, other than a favorite Italian restaurant, Zios, in our area, that we occasionally visit. How to capture the experience was beyond what I could come up with. I set the word aside and figured I would just do the next word.

Last week’s prompt was “grow.” While many ideas came to mind, how to put them in a visual form didn’t. Amazing by not working on either words, one morning in the shower, the ideas formed and I knew just what I was going to do.

For “fresco” a drawing wouldn’t suffice, and even a picture couldn’t capture what I wanted to convey, but words would. So here they are:

Old World
Friendly atmosphere
Warm crusty bread
Plastered walls
Italian
Sweet basil
Romance
Pasta
Pungent garlic
Olive oil
Antipasto
Wine
Fresh oregano
Grated parmesan
Pepper grinder
Brick ovens
Candlelight
Bruschetta

As we are in the midst of winter and bare trees, the thought of spring buds just around the corner inspired this picture:

Join in on Jaye’s prompts. It is a no pressure way to think outside yourself.

Enjoy the journey, Jackie
