While working on the pillows I made for my daughter I was able to get some personal sewing done using Bonnie Hunter’s, “leader’s and ender’s” method.
I have been hosting “Veteran Quilt Sew-in’s” at my home once a month for those interested in making quilts for Veterans in hospice care.
Since most of the volunteers have never sewn or made a quilt, I designed several patterns that would sew up quickly from 2 1/2 inch strips. Any leftover pieces I have cut into 2 1/2 inch squares and I am using those pieces as While sewing up the pillows I used those squares as my leaders and enders and ended up with quite a few pairs. While I have many more to go, I made quite a dent and added to what I currently have, so I am well on my way. The beauty of the process, is I was able to sew all the pieces while working on other projects.
Who knows, I may end up with two quilts!
Do you use the “leader and ender” process?
Enjoy the journey, Jackie
