Complementary Color Play

This weeks challenge with Sandy over at Quilting for the Rest of Us is easy, as I am collecting purples and yellows for a quilt I plan to make sometime this year. I have started the story behind this color combination over here.

Complementary colors are found opposite each other on the color wheel. Yellow and purple, red and green, blue and orange are the first combinations that tend to come to mind.

Currently I am vacationing near my daughter and family and she was willing to go to a fabric shop with me so I could help her pick out fabric for pillows she wants for her home. Of course while we were there I was able to add to my purple and yellow fabric collection as well as pick out fabrics for another project I have in my head.

I was able to combine the yellow and purples with one fabric from my other project to get a complementary with an accent combination. At first I wasn’t too thrilled with this color set but it has some appeal, though not for any project I have in the future.

I had hoped to find more fabric for pictures at a shop I have gone to every year when we are here, but I just found out they closed their brick and mortar shop. I am very disappointed.

Time for family and grandchildren and pillows for my daughter.

Enjoy the journey, Jackie
