Spring Fling

I started this last year. It was supposed to be a couple of book covers (a kit). I decided the fabric needed to be a quilt when it grew up instead.

It was supposed to be a few inches larger but a mishap created a design challenge. The borders went from 2 1/2 inches to 3/4 inches. Who would know? If I don’t tell.

Finished size 38 x 42.

Here is a close-up of the stitching. I have a Baby Lock Sashiko (a present to myself) that creates a hand-quilted looking stitch (say that 3 times fast).

The colors are not ones I typically work with, but with spring tones are very fitting.

How are you celebrating the approach of spring?

Enjoy the journey, Jackie

P.S. This is part of the 2012 Finish A Long by Rhonda which I posted over here.
