NICU Quilt

You may remember me talking about Grace a couple of weeks ago over here. Well it is hard to believe she will be turning two in a few weeks.

I am finishing up her birthday presents, and I can’t help but look back at her early days. Before she was born, I had the fabrics I planned to use for a quilt but I hadn’t planned a design yet.

I thought I had plenty of time to plan, and then she was born 10 weeks early.

While I spent much of my free time as possible at the hospital which impacted my creative time, it didn’t impact my thinking time and I knew I wanted to celebrate her life in a special way.

Almost everyday I would go to the hospital website page looking for updates and new pictures her parents had taken.

Each picture had a caption to catch the moments of those early days.

Here is a picture of her a few days old her size compared to her mother’s hand.

What better way to tell the story to be passed down through the ages in a special way.

Then the long-awaited day when she finally came home.

It is still hard to believe that it has been almost two years since her birth. Those first few weeks moved painfully slow. Now the days are quickly passing as she moves into the toddler stage.

What do you have to celebrate today?

Enjoy the journey,     Jackie

What a beautiful way to share photos in a quilt! I had to look at it enlarged to fully appreciate the effect. This is an incredible gift to celebrate Grace’s arrival and a really special memory.

Thanks so much for sharing this on #TBT.
