Amazing Grace

This is the dedication gown I made for my granddaughter, Grace, who turns 2 next month. Her name was chosen before she was born, not knowing how fitting the name would become. She was born 10 weeks early. She was so tiny I cried when I saw her.

On the slip her father asked me to embroider, “His grace is sufficient” as it was the verse that carried her parents through those first difficult weeks.

Once she was stable enough to be held and have visitors, I would spend time at the hospital any night that I could, with her and her mother. Many of those nights I held her tiny body against mine.

This past weekend,I found myself in the hospital again, holding her in the same way. It brought back the memories and the tears. Her parents were out-of-town and we had her and her brother for a few days so she was in our care. She is fine now, but not without a scare.

While I enjoy my job, I work because I have to.
I quilt because that is what I was created to do.
However,  my priority is my God, my family and my friends.

Sometimes I forget that.

Enjoy the journey,      Jackie

Tanesha, Thank you, I still tear up when I think of her early days and the fighter she was and still is. They were precious moments.
