Camping, Christmas & Quilting

Most quilters I know love fabric and I am no exception.

When I first discovered fat quarters I thought the world was a wonderful place. When I discovered Charm Squares, Jelly Rolls, Honey Buns, Layer Cakes, and more, by Moda Fabrics, I experienced fabric envy.

Over the past couple of years I have built a small stash of “dessert” type items and they look very pretty on some shelves in my sewing studio.

Using up stash is one of my 2011 Quilting Resolutions so I thought I would try start with one my Honey Bun rolls.

Since a good part of the cutting is already done, it was an easy project to take camping.

Here it is sewn and cut into “bricks.” The pattern formed as I played. I decided that I would make “Christmas Chimney Bricks” with it.

I guess I am somewhat of a rebel (okay, not somewhat I am a rebel), because I have been looking through books, online and all over for sometime for ideas of how to use my Honey Bun and finally decided to cut into it (oh how painful) and just go for it.

More to come.
Have you started any Christmas projects yet?
